Oral history interview with Morris Polack, Aug. 28, 1987 and Jan. 9, 1989.

Polack relates the story of his early life from his birth in 1905 in Bogushovka (Ukraine), through the poverty of pre-revolutionary Russia, his escape to Bessarabia, and his journey to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Polack came to the United States in 1926 with help from the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. He tells of working as a junk peddler and chicken transporter during his first years in the country. Polack bought a partnership in Seattle Poultry in 1928, then took over the business in 1930 and changed the name to ACME Poultry. He also discusses his synagogue affiliations, his marriage to Edith Dolgoff, and his introduction to charitable fundraising causes via Mr. Rubinchik. Polack developed charitable trust funds that benefitted the Machzikay Hadath congregation, the Jewish Communtiy Center, the Jewish National Fund, various institutions in Israel, and the Kline Galland Home, as well as a number of non-Jewish causes, such as the leukemia foundation.
